I am a highly experienced and enthusiastic educator with a lifelong passion for teaching and learning as well as sustainability and the natural world and astronomy. After teaching in a school in London for three years whilst gaining valuable additional experience volunteer teaching in primary schools, I moved to Switzerland and spent three years teaching English as a Second Language learners (ESL) level 1-3 students in a high end international boarding school situated up a mountain in a ski resort, following a US based curriculum. I then returned to the UK to complete an MSc in Palaeoanthropology at U.C.L. (University College, London), completed a teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course and continued to tutor primary and secondary school aged children for the last three years predominantly in English, Math and Science.
After completing my Masters Degree, I have worked in London as a primary and secondary school age tutor on a full time basis. In addition to face to face tuition, I have tutored students in China, the Middle East and African countries online during the day and completed residential placements in Italy, France and Russia. I have prepared students for successful entrance at 7+ 11+ and 13+ to High end UK private schools, such as Eton, Charterhouse, Harrow, St. Pauls, Westminster, Dulwich College, Wetherby, Tonbridge and the likes.
I have also planned and taught online courses in maths and science.
I have worked in UK and US schools and have an in depth knowledge of both the UK and USA national curriculum, key stages 1-5, and have experience with transitioning students to different curriculums.
I have worked with dyslexic students during my teaching and tutoring career and have developed a range of actives and structured lesson plans to help them succeed. My ESL experience has also provided me with skills highly transferable to teaching students with dyslexia. Should the students be considering applying to schools with an entrance exam, I have a high success rate when it comes to preparing students for independent school entrance examinations. As well as the academic side I have also worked with students on residential placements towards interview preparation.
