Grace studied Natural Sciences at Durham before embarking upon a MSc in Neuroscience at King’s College London. Grace has taught over 2,100 hours and helped 70 Keystone families. She has a passion for Maths and Science and strives to create a teaching environment where pupils feel able to ask questions and be themselves.

I have over 6 years' experience tutoring Maths and Science, English, and VR/NVR from KS1 to A Level - covering the National Curriculum and AQA, OCR and Edexcel exam boards, and have helped pupils with their 11+ entry to schools such as King's College School Wimbledon, Harrow and Eton. I have home-schooled pupils in Maths and Science at KS3 and GCSE, undertaken pro bono work at Godolphin and Latymer helping prepare pupils for their Maths 11+ through The Bridge programme, and have also run GCSE Biology revision courses. I have helped pupils feel comfortable with daunting transitions such as between primary and secondary school, and from secondary school into 6th form. I took part in the “Science into Schools” programme at Durham University, teaching Year 6 Science at a local primary school. I was also a Nursery practitioner for two years, helping pre-schoolers learn to read and write, introducing Numeracy and Science.

Biography

I have just finished an MSc in Neuroscience at King’s College London and was awarded Distinction, and the Henry McIlwain Award. I graduated Durham University with a 2:1 in Natural Sciences (Mathematics and Biology).

I grew up on the south coast in a tiny village in Hampshire and went to Sherborne Girls School where I achieved 9A* and 1A at GCSE; A*AA in A Level Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry respectively. I took AS Level French and Classical Civilisation and was awarded a 6th form academic scholarship.

Approach to Tutoring

I aim to improve pupils’ confidence in their own abilities to help make STEM subjects seem much less daunting. I strive to create an environment where pupils feel able to ask questions and be themselves. My online tutorials make the most of interactive online whiteboards and quizzes, so pupils can engage with the content in the same way as they would in person. I tailor tutorials to each individual student’s needs, helping them find their own passion and enjoyment in the subject.

When not tutoring

I love acting – I have been in productions in the West End and completed LAMDA to Grade 8 at school. I enjoy finding new places to eat and am always trying to become a better cook. I played lacrosse throughout both school and university.
