Emma

Emma Latham-Jones is a highly experienced multilingual tutor, academic mentor and executive coach with over 5,000 hours billed and a decade of experience. Emma’s expertise is backed by an impressive professional and academic background, making her one of the most sought-after tutors in her field.

Currently, she serves as the Lead Advisor for a company co-founded by the former US Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve, where she provides strategic guidance on global economic issues. She also works part-time as a Senior Manager for Responsible Investing (RI) in the City of London, driving initiatives to promote sustainable finance, and as a Strategic Advisor for a range of startups.

Emma’s insights are regularly sought after on international panels, where she has spoken alongside esteemed figures such as the former Director of Public Prosecutions, the former Governor of the Bank of England, and numerous presidents of nation-states. She recently contributed to a roundtable discussion with the President of Palau, interviewed a former German Ambassador and participated in a panel at The Law Society with Sharif Shivji KC.

Her professional journey includes roles within the British Civil Service, notably at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the British Council in China and as a diplomat at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. To secure her position at the OECD, Emma was chosen as one of the top six successful applicants from a competitive pool of 2,600 candidates after passing rigorous tests and interviews. During this time, she interacted with numerous heads of state, ambassadors, city mayors, and CEOs of FTSE 100 companies, gaining firsthand insights into the interplay of politics and economics, which she now shares with her social science students.

Academically, Emma holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, where she was awarded a full scholarship, and has earned degrees from UC Berkeley, Sciences Po Paris, and the University of Warwick, receiving academic scholarships at all institutions. For her undergraduate degree, she was awarded First Class honours and the prize for the highest-performing student in her department. She also holds a certificate from Harvard Business School and is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Emma has won numerous teaching, communications, and debating awards, including the University of Cambridge’s Mountford Communications Prize, the Oxford Union’s Schools’ Debating Competition, and the Excellence in Teaching Prize. In addition to her extensive tutoring experience, she has been invited to speak at multiple COP conferences around the world, contributing to global discussions on climate action.

Emma’s tutoring style is first and foremost nurturing. She prides herself on being enthusiastic, engaging and sensitive to the individual’s needs, in order to bring out the best in each pupil. Many of Emma’s tutees have been with her for over five years, and she continues to develop long-term, meaningful relationships with each of her clients to support them through each step on their academic journey.

In her first tutorials, she will conduct an assessment to gauge the student’s current level, then set out clear objectives and target grades with the student and family.

When she is not tutoring, Emma is normally coaching CEOs or organising a meditation retreat. Emma is a fully-qualified mindfulness teacher with a specialism in teaching mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) courses,. She has a daily yoga and meditation practice, and enjoys attending breathwork classes. She integrates these practices into her coaching, helping clients manage stress, enhance focus, and achieve their personal and academic goals.
