Who was the student?
A student came to us whilst they were in Year 8. They were out of school due to medical reasons and needed a way to catch up with missed learning and stay on top of school work whilst searching for a new school place.
How did we respond?
When lessons first begun, a member of the Keystone Homeschooling team met the student at their home, to explain how the process was going to work and to get to know the student better. Based on this visit, tutors were selected and they started the lessons at the student’s home in London, allowing the student to get to know the tutors in a secure and familiar environment. Following a few weeks of this, lessons then moved to the Keystone Office.
Within the office team, we engaged with the student during their breaks, playing games with them and spending time getting to know them. This allowed the student’s confidence to flourish and the enjoyment of learning to grow. The student formed strong bonds with their tutors, who all tailored their lessons to meet the students likes and dislikes.
What was the outcome?
The student gained huge amounts of confidence and maturity through their time with Keystone. The student felt secure and confident enough to take the entrance exams to a senior school and leave Keystone to work towards their GCSEs at a secondary school.
