I bring several years of experience tutoring students for the 7+ and 11+ examinations, with many of my pupils receiving offers from esteemed institutions such as St Paul’s, Westminster, Wetherby, and Dulwich.
I am employed at an independent school, where I have gained specialized experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with ASD, Dyslexia and ADHD.
After completing my secondary education in Australia, I participated in a one-year exchange programme in Japan. Upon my return, I earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma in Education, achieving a distinction grade average. I taught in Australia for two years before relocating to London, where I developed a strong understanding of the British Curriculum.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, I have refined my ability to create personalised, well-structured, and scaffolded lessons designed to meet the unique needs of each student. My expertise spans both mainstream and SEN environments, enabling me to effectively support and enrich the learning journey of every pupil I work with.
Each of my lessons is tailored, well-structured, and scaffolded to address the individual needs of my pupils. I emphasise leveraging their strengths and interests to enrich their learning experience. I provide customised homework and tasks between lessons to reinforce concepts and ensure steady progress.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, I excel at identifying the next steps necessary for my pupils to achieve their academic goals and beyond. I have created an effective system for enhancing writing skills, which includes a points system. Points are awarded for the use of ambitious vocabulary, punctuation, structure, and figurative language. My pupils take delight in watching their points accumulate as we refine and elevate their writing, fostering their confidence as competent writers.
I maintain a calm and friendly demeanour, always striving to build confidence in every learner.
When I am not tutoring, I teach part-time at an independent school in central London and also work as an artist. I create large-scale canvas paintings in my art studio.
I began training as an Art Psychotherapist and plan to complete my training in the future. Tutoring supports this goal as I save towards my master’s degree. I have a keen interest in ways to promote mental health and emotional well-being.
In my free time, I enjoy swimming, cycling, and improving my Japanese language skills. Additionally, I am in the process of transforming my home into an urban jungle, with a growing collection of house plants!
“Sarah tutored our son through the 7 plus process, resulting in him receiving an offer for St Paul’s Juniors. We couldn’t have higher praise for Sarah. She was always punctual and efficient. Our son loved his lessons with her, he found his learning with her fun. Her explanations were extremely clear and lessons were structured according to need. Thanks so much Sarah.”
Father of Student''Sarah tutored all three of my children across a four year period. My eldest daughter has dyslexia and Sarah helped boost her confidence in reading and writing. My son and daughter both worked with Sarah on the 11+ exams and did really well. Sarah is patient and the children looked forward to her sessions each week. I would certainly recommend Sarah as a tutor.''
Mother of Students''We can only talk very positively about Sarah - she is very competent and has a really great attitude. She makes the lessons very fun and our son is happy to work with her and says she is his favourite teacher of all. She is also always very helpful and ready to go the extra mile.''
