Omar

I was born and raised in South London where I completed all of my schooling. I went to Graveney School, the most competitive state school in the borough, where I attained A-Levels in Maths (A*), Further Maths (A), Physics (A) and Chemistry (A) and an AS in Biology (A). I went on to study Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London where I gained my Masters Degree, attaining a 2:1 grade. Since then I have been tutoring part-time in Maths, Physics and Entrance Exams (both theory and strategy) whilst working in Tech and consulting for various firms. Currently, I am training to become a Data Engineer.

I like to foster curiosity and a deeper understanding of the material I teach through back-and-forth discussions and regular problem-solving exercises. This allows students to have knowledge base outside of the regular curriculum allowing for a more comprehensive grasp of their subjects and, consequently, an easier time answering questions in exams.

I am a supportive and knowledgeable tutor and pride myself on making Maths Science and NVR/VR not only accessible but enjoyable and exciting for my students. With the aid of visual learning and anecdotes, I reinforce learning and make it more relatable and relevant for my students.

Over almost a decade of tutoring, my experience has allowed me the ability to quickly identify misconceptions and fill gaps in knowledge and therefore improve attainment and confidence in a student - creating is a positive reinforcement loop.

I frame my lessons around exam specifications and past examination questions to ensure learning is focussed. I also place emphasis on developing the skills necessary for completing exam papers ensuring my students not only know the content, but how to apply it and can perform to their highest level throughout an entire exam paper.

I am currently a part-time online tutor while studying to be a Data Engineer. I have a passion for Maths, whether that be using it for my work or teaching it to others and so love to share this in any capacity with those around me. All of my work is remote, giving me the flexibility to travel with my partner around the UK and other parts of the world. Other than tutoring and coding I love to read, cook and watch anime in my spare time. I am currently reading ''17 equations that changed the world'' as well as ''House of Dragons'' from the Game of Thrones world, Mohammed Salah's biography (I'm a massive Liverpool fan) and the prequel to the Hunger Games series. In terms of cooking, I love to experiment with flavours, whether it be in stews, soups or curries but my real passion is baking - my most recent sticky toffee pudding cake was a real hit with my family and friends!
