Louise

Born and raised in South London, I developed an early love for literature and the arts, which has since guided both my academic and professional journey. I attended Streatham and Clapham High School, where I completed A levels in English, History, and Theatre Studies. I went on to study English at the University of Southampton, graduating with a First-Class degree. During my studies for my undergraduate I cultivated a passion for storytelling and analysis, which led me to pursue an MSt in Creative Writing at Oxford University, where I achieved a distinction.

It was during my master’s degree that I began tutoring, initially working with students online before expanding to in-person teaching. Since then, I have been lucky enough to work with a wide range of students and have embraced a dual career as both a writer and tutor. My teaching experience spans working with students of all ages and levels, focusing on fostering creativity, clarity, and confidence in their writing.

Creating a friendly and welcoming learning environment is central to my teaching approach, and I always work to ensure that my students feel comfortable throughout the learning process. I encourage students to see mistakes as opportunities for growth, fostering confidence and a genuine sense of achievement as they improve. By encouraging my students to share what they find most challenging or valuable, I give them an active role in their learning which helps ensure our lessons are both relevant and effective.

I’m currently working as a freelance tutor as my full-time job. I enjoy it so much that I’d love to continue doing this for as long as possible.

Outside of tutoring I run writing workshops, and take dance classes multiple times a week at the royal academy of dance. I’m also learning French with my own tutor!
