Nicholas

I was born and grew up in Ealing, West London, and still live in the area now. I went to Merchant Taylor's School in Northwood for my GCSEs and A levels (three As in Mathematics, Spanish and French) before going on to study modern foreign languages at the University of Leeds, graduating in 2021 with a first-class degree. I have since held various roles in education, as a tutor, as a teacher in secondary schools, a SEN teaching assistant and a languages assistant. I completed my PGCE at UCL Institute of Education in 2024.

I have always been passionate about languages and sharing this passion with my students. Alongside French and Spanish, I also studied Portuguese ab initio at University, and study Greek in my spare time.

With an understanding that no two students are the same, I make sure to plan and tailor my classes to each individual. I make sure to spend time getting to know my students, and I enjoy the one-to-one format of tutoring that allows teacher and student to build a strong relationship.

I challenge my students to think critically and independently by pushing them to reach solutions themselves instead of spoon-feeding them. I believe in fostering students' interest in a subject, helping them to move towards autonomous and self-motivated learning. I design lessons that are diverse, interactive, and engaging, drawing from a comprehensive collection of resources, including past papers and practice materials.

For GCSE and A level students, I ensure that students have a thorough understanding of exam strategies and success criteria. I provide ample opportunity for practice, coupled with extensive feedback, so that my students know what it takes to achieve the highest grades.

Outside of my work as a full-time tutor, I am a musician and I love playing guitar and listening to music. I spend lots of time reading, learning languages and cooking!
