Pre-Test English and Verbal Reasoning Full Course Description
An intensive look at the key areas of the pretest in both English and Verbal reasoning. We will refresh the memory on key aspects of grammar, punctuation, spelling and comprehension and do some test practice. We will also look at some key types of verbal reasoning questions and make sure students are confident with how to approach them. The whole course will be aimed at refreshing and testing the student's skills.
In punctuation, we will look at the basic punctuation of sentences, accurate punctuation of speech, as well as the more complex use of colons, semicolons and parentheses.
In spelling, we will look at prefixes and suffixes ad root words as the foundations, and then push into irregular plurals and some complex constructions from different language roots such as Anglo-Saxon, Latin and French.
In grammar, we will cover the tenses including perfect and progressive, as well as subject and verb agreement, missing words from sentences, active and passive sentences, direct and indirect speech and other commonly tested areas.
In vocabulary, we will look at expanding the understanding of words, and we will look at the different forms of questions that test that understanding.
We will also use a wide range of question types that should help familiarise students with the different ways knowledge can be tested. We will complete both English and verbal reasoning tasks that really help the students to put the learning into practice.
