I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. I studied in an international school and got an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Having worked with a tutor, I have first-hand experience in understanding how important and motivating it can be to have a dedicated tutor during a child’s time in education.

After high school, I moved to England for university. I have an Undergraduate degree in Business and a Masters degree in Education from the Institute of Education, UCL. I qualified to become a full-time teacher and have worked in a school for 5 years. I progressed very quickly in my role and became year group lead, Maths subject lead and a mentor for trainee teachers. While teaching, I also tutored children part time over the weekends. Working in a school has taught me the power of individuality for each child and how to best support each child’s growth despite the curriculum being the same for all children.

With my experience as a teacher and tutor, I strongly believe that each child is unique and therefore learn in different ways. Each child has their own strengths and to teach them successfully, I have to understand and cater to their strengths. I am patient and adaptable as a tutor. If I see that a child doesn't understand a concept in a given way, I will change my approach and adapt. I like to use hands on activities, stories and online tools to help children learn. I find that combining different ways of learning really helps a child understand key concepts and retain the information as well.

The best part of my job is being able to see the light bulb moment in a child when they finally understand a concept. It is so powerful to see their confidence shine and for them to feel a sense of accomplishment.

Besides teaching, I am passionate about fitness and wellbeing. I like to spend my time in nature, going on long walks, doing yoga and lifting weights. If not the gym, I am usually busy curling up with my next book or learning Spanish.
