Over a 15 year career teaching secondary school English, I have delivered KS3, MYP, GCSE, iGCSE, A-level and IBDP programs.
I began teaching secondary school English in 2009, completing the Graduate Teacher Program (GTP) at Hasmonean High School, a secondary school and sixth form with academy status for pupils from Orthodox Jewish families located in Barnet. There, I taught KS3 English, GCSE Language and Literature and A-Level English Literature. I also became Second in Department working particularly to support the girls' site.
In 2012, I decided to begin work as an international school teacher in Hong Kong, getting a position at West Island School, part of the English Schools Foundation. West Island is a co-educational, private, international secondary school that provides an English-language education to students of all abilities from age eleven to eighteen. I taught KS3, iGCSE English Language and Literature, and began teaching the IBDP program in English A Language and Literature and English A Literature, as well as supervising English EE. One of the most fulfilling parts of my job at West Island was becoming a Head of Year from 2013, and eventually becoming the Post-16 Director of Learning as which I oversaw the guidance and achievement of our Year 12 and Year 13 students as they completed the IB diploma and BTEC qualifications, and applied to university.
In 2020, I moved across the world to Peru as the Deputy Head of English at Newton College with the specific purvue of designing, delivering and reviewing the IBDP program in English Language and Literature. This was also my first experience delivering the IB MYP program. Newton College is a Peruvian British co-educational private school founded in 1979 to combine academic excellence, sound character formation, and a sense of service to the community. I taught MYP and IBDP English A Language and Literature, and supervised English EE. From 2021, I also worked as an Instructional Coach supporting members of teaching staff to improve their pedagogical practice.
