Laura

I was born in Hampshire and attended Downe House School, where I completed A-Levels in Spanish (A), History of Art (A) and French (B). I achieved a 2:1 degree in Art History and Spanish and went on to study my PGCE at the University of Roehampton.

I became a teacher, at an outstanding inner city London School, before moving into private tuition whilst studying for a Nutrition diploma. I am passionate about education and I feel that I have the creativity, patience, experience and pedagogical knowledge to deliver a high quality mentoring service. With the correct support, every child is able to fulfil their true potential.

I build confidence in my tutees, and believe that this sense of confidence is integral for the development of individuals' independent learning skills.

I strive to create a positive, engaging and stimulating learning environment where children feel comfortable to express themselves freely. Children learn best when they are driven by curiosity and having fun. By bringing learning to life in a meaningful and exciting way, I encourage children to learn whilst challenging them to deepen their knowledge and understanding.

We all absorb information in different ways so I like to use a varied mixture of learning techniques in all my sessions. To ensure a child’s success, I deliver carefully tailored, engaging sessions to meet the needs of each child. One of the most important aspects of tutoring is to stimulate interest in the subject - once this happens, the whole learning process becomes much easier.

I am studying for a Nutrition Diploma and I hope, at the end of the course, to help children with additional need.

Having been lucky enough to grow up on a farm, I adore nature and the countryside. On weekends, I am normally on my parents farm, helping with the animals.

I have a real passion for food and work part time as a private chef.
